Update: SEIU Clerical Negotiation Session 7

The University and SEIU Local 73 met for a half-day bargaining session; the first since the COVID-19 pandemic. This was also the first session with Federal Mediator Stephen George. The SEIU spent the majority of the session presenting a new comprehensive proposal, which now includes proposed economic enhancements. The union is seeking 5% across-the-board wage increases each year of a three-year agreement, new seniority “step” increases as well as the creation of various new pay “differentials.” The comprehensive proposal also adds about a dozen new non-economic demands, in addition to the nearly 40 non-economic demands currently on the table. The University ended the session by expressing its sincerest appreciation to the SEIU, its representatives and to the bargaining unit members for their teamwork, service and flexibility during these past several months.
