Update: SEIU Professional Negotiation Session 15

The University and SEIU met for a half day of bargaining. The session ended approximately at 10 pm. This is the fourth session with Federal mediator Stephen George. UIC began the session by presenting economic proposals. The parties used much of the remaining session to discuss the bases for their proposals and make further changes. SEIU currently sits at a 4 year term (4.5% market analysis/adjustment, 2.5%, 3.5%, 3.5%) plus step increases at 3% increments. UIC countered last at CWP (2%), CWP (currently 0%), 1.5% or CWP, 1.5% or CWP. SEIU also seeks newly created annual “step” increases for all classifications as well as new pay differentials and premiums. The parties will continue to negotiate.
