Update: SEIU Professional Negotiation Session 7

Both parties were scheduled to meet from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., and agreed more progress is needed. UIC presented a handout from OAE’s Dispute Resolution Services to assist in the negotiation process. UIC also created a spreadsheet detailing both parties’ last positions in addition it presented a joint letter to the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service to the union requesting the appointment of a federal mediator; in an attempt to move negotiations along. The union declined to sign the letter. UIC presented a new proposal concerning midterm wage increases which the union refused to discuss. The union, after prior request by the University, agreed to discuss proposals that were of the greatest importance.
