Update: SEIU Service and Maintenance Negotiation Session 3

The UIC bargaining team met with the SEIU Local 73 bargaining team for approximately 3.5 hours. The session began with the University offering its rejections for portions of Union Proposals 1-5. These proposals focus on Negotiations and Exclusive Recognition. After listening to the Union’s response and further discussion, the parties separated for caucus. Upon return, the University offered a proposal on Management Rights and other counterproposals to Union Proposals 1-5. The parties separated again. Upon return, the Union posed additional questions and agreed to offer counterproposals at our next session. The University also agreed that it will offer its response to the Union’s proposals on Discipline and Vacation. The University offered to set additional dates for bargaining. The Union will forward dates for consideration.
