Update: SEIU Service and Maintenance Negotiation Session 5

The University and SEIU met for a full day of bargaining. Federal mediators Stephen George and Kevin Farrell attended the session. The University began the session by reviewing and responding to the union’s non-economic proposals and introduced its own counter proposals. After various rounds of negotiating, the parties agreed to sign 2 TAs at our next negotiation session (Employer Rights and No Strike/No Lockout). Although the University rejected some proposals, the parties made progress on several Articles, including Exclusive Representation; Discipline; and the Grievance Procedure. The parties are still far apart on Vacation; Work Schedules and Work Hours; Job and Shift Bidding; Dues Deduction; and Term of the Contract.
