Update: SEIU Technical Negotiation Session 3

The University and SEIU met for a one (1) hour bargaining session. This is the first session with federal mediator Stephen George and the first since the COVID-19 pandemic. At the outset, the University extended its warmest thank you to SEIU, its members, as well as to our employees (and their extended families) for our employees’ diligence, service, hard work and sacrifices during the crisis. SEIU presented a comprehensive CBA proposal that: 1) incorporated its ten original, non-economic proposals (some the same, others amended); 2) added new non-economic proposals; and, 3) for the first time, included economic proposals. UIC did not give any responses to the proposals today but will review and propose responses at the next meeting.
