Update: SEIU Technical Negotiation Session 4

The University and SEIU met for a full day of bargaining. This is the second session with federal mediator Stephen George. The University began the session by tendering proposals and counterproposals on various non-economic proposals. The Union balked that the counterproposal was not exhaustive and did not include economic counters. After various rounds of negotiating, the parties were able to sign 2 TAs (Employer Rights and No Strike/No Lockout). The parties made progress on several major articles, including Negotiations and Exclusive Representation; Discipline; and Grievance Procedure. The parties are still far apart on Vacation; Work Schedules and Work Hours; Job and Shift Bidding; Dues Deduction; and Term of the Contract.
